ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly has unanimously approved a resolution by PML-N regarding formation of a committee to review the increase by government in Petroleum products.

PML-N parliamentarian, Ahsan Iqbal sought acting Speaker’s permission to table the resolution in N.A on Thursday, which was granted by acting Speaker, after ordering cessation of regular session.

In his tabled resolution, Ahsan Iqbal has said that masses demanded immediate cessation of discriminating increase in petroleum prices , hence a parliamentarian committee should be immediately formed to review the issue and submit its report regarding a fix formula for determining petroleum tariff and any increase, within a weeks time.

The acting Speaker, Faisal Karim Kundi sought a unanimous approval for the resolution and after getting it approved the resolution.

Meanwhile federal finance minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh has urged on masses to accept petroleum prices in letter and spirit, as these were based on global market considerations, and were inevitable.

During his informal talks with ONLINE, the finance minister stressed on masses’ acceptance of increase in petroleum tariff, just as (gladly as) they accepted gold prices.

Replying to a question regarding progress in Thar-coal project for tackling the energy menace, the federal financer minister assured of providing all possible assistance to program’s chairman , Dr. Samar Mubarak Mand, which the government was already doing, by assuring to comply with Dr. Samar’s demand for Rs 2 billion fund.
