LAHORE – The Lahore High Court was urged on Tuesday to declare Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz as disqualified from public offices through a quo-warranto petition alleging that Mr Hamza was supervising the Al-Falah Pharma that supplied the defective tablet to the Pakistan Institute of Cardiology.
Justice Umar Ata Bandial will resume the hearing on petition on Feb 01 (today)Petitioner through his counsel Sardar Khurram Latif Khosa stated that being Punjab chief minister, Mian Shahbaz Sharif did not prove himself to be the trust worthy ‘Ameen’ according to the Article 62 of the Constitution of Pakistan.Khurram Khosa, son of Punjab governor Latif Khosa, stated that it was the hard luck of the province that the chief minister appointed himself as a minister for Health, despite the facts he had no adequate even basic knowledge of health.
As a matter of fact, the counsel alleged that Mian Shahbaz Sharif was playing with the lives of the masses at large resultantly a huge numbers of deaths likewise deaths by dengue and now recently the deaths of cardiac patients by free medicine at PIC.
The Counsel Khurram Khosa alleged that MNA Hamza Shahbaz was the supervisor of Al-Falah Pharma that supplied the defective 75mg tablet named Alfagirl (Clopidogirl) to the PIC at various cities of the province including Lahore.
Mr Khurram pointed out that Al-Falah Pharma under the control, investment and supervision of Hamza Shahbaz and Shahbaz Sharif also supplying the low quality Anaesthesia medicines to all the hospitals in Punjab, despite the fact that the license of respondent said medical manufacturer had expired since one year.
He alleged that Punjab chief minister with connivance of his son Hamza Shahbaz Sharif and Al-Falah Pharma subverted the constitution by his unconstitutional means, therefore, they could be held guilty of high treason as define by the Article 6 of the Constitution.He stated that according to the national drug testing laboratory, the Alfagril had been declared defective due to black spot on coating of the tablets which ultimately causes a large numbers of cardiac patient’ s death in Punjab.
The petitioner alleged that it was highhandedness of the respondents that they without any prequalification, tenders, even without getting approval from the Federal Govt. or Federal Drug Agency directly ordered to produce the low standard tablets for cardiac patients.
He mentioned in the petition that the respondents purchased the low standard raw material for the preparation of disputed medicines from the Lohari Gate instead of imported raw material.He asserted that the respondents badly failed to safeguard the fundamental rights of the peoples as enshrined in the Constitution.
