Your real friend and your real self...is the human inside you..
It is the one that will worship and it is the one that will rebel..
It is the one that will become of the world..or of the hereafter.
It is this inside of yours that will reward you or punish you..
The decision is in your hands..
Your inside is your most cherished friend and your worst enemy...
You yourself are the source of pain for your journey and
You yourself are the source of a pleasant journey.
If your inside is made secure your outside will become secure (Wasif Ali Wasif)
‘’I think therefore I am’’ quoted by Jean Jacques Rousseau, brings us into the realm of the powers inculcated within ones thinking, In the contemporary world, philosophy, love and even ones context of living is quoted within this context. People nowadays act upon such anecdotes, reasoning has become mere folly, almost everyone seems to understand that our existence and our reality depends upon our thinking or to put it more straightforwardly everything has a solution and you can think your way out of it. Following this trail we fail to understand the power and the immensity of Intellect that Allah Almighty has gifted us not within our brains but within our hearts. And from this very exact point begins the journey of khudi, as quoted by Rumi that it is ‘’only from the heart can you touch the sky’’ and as quoted by Iqbal ‘’ sitaroon se agae jahan aur bi hain...Yahan ishq ke imtihaan aur bi hain’’ (there are more worlds existing beyond the stars..there are more journeys of love than the one here). When the slogans such as ‘’know thyself’’ are raised, people often interpret them as a reason to love, as a reason to live, failing to identify that the boundaries of reason are very limited and cannot compete with the infinity of desire. Allah Himself declares that those who do not believe have a disease within their hearts, several times in the Quran. The word belief is also a pillar of khudi apart from desire and surrender.
When these three pillars come together a base is established for khudi to flourish and expand, and this khudi turns into a miracle when one begins to inculcate the attributes of Allah within himself, this is a stage where people of character are born, where one experiences a stunning brightness within one self and where Allah Himself asks him of his opinion, worlds upon worlds begin to open when one inculcates those attributes within himself, he does not only becomes an instrument but becomes a miracle himself.
Today we build walls upon walls in order to secure ourselves but fail to secure this miracle producing aspect within us; we have let this greatness to slip away from within us, whereas this greatness is our being. We have built complicated boundaries around us whereas it’s our insides that we have chained.
Today we rush through our lives without taking a second to let Allah do the talking within us. Reasoning loses its power in front of desire and faith can lead us to heights unimaginable. May Allah give us all the strength and courage and above all the desire to reach those heights?
“All day I think about it, and then at night I say it. Where did I come from, and what am I supposed to be doing? I have no idea. My soul is from elsewhere, I'm sure of that, and I intend to end up there.’’(Rumi)
